Isle of Wight Events Diary 2020
The Isle of Wight springs into life come April, when Easter egg hunts fill the island with joy, before having a two-week walking festival, which is said to be the largest walking festival in the UK! The bi-annual Old Gaffers Festival in Yarmouth, brings colour to the shoreline, with the sailing regatta. The Isle of Wight Festival takes place in June, bringing thousands of revellers to Seacole Park in Newport, the heart town of the island. The Great Wonderfest will return for the second year in 2020 with great big music acts, tv stars, awesome activities and a big dose of family fun all in one place. The Isle of Wight County Show is also a big hit for the Island, this takes place at the County Show Ground in Northwood, Cowes.
In July 2017, the Isle of Wight Celebrated the first ever Pride event, that brought colour and happiness to the streets of Ryde. This is now an annual event that takes place every once a year on the Island.
If you have a love for Garlic, then head over to the Garlic Festival in August, this makes a great day out, along with the famous Cowes Week, which is the largest sailing regatta in the world! There are also over a dozen of carnivals that take place at various of towns across the island, including Ventnor, Ryde, Newport, Sandown and Cowes.
The largest gathering of scooters in the world comes to Sandown Airport in 2020 (previous years it has been held in Ryde). The Isle of Wight Scooter Rally takes place over the August Bank Holiday every year. Ryde hosts the second day of the International Classic Car Show in September, with the first taking place at Newport Quay.
